Opportunities to be Involved

A chance to learn about field science opportunities, field seminars, stewardship opportunities, teacher workshops, retreats, and special events.

We have several options for getting involved, whether you are a student, teacher or interested member of our community.  We strive to offer the strongest field science possible, and link you with additional opportunities for learning and work in the field.


Bring your class to the Elwha River with OPI

Testing Changes in Water Chemistry Come study the Elwha River with our staff and stay at OPI's spectacular campus.  We offer 3-5 day programs, taking you to several monitoring sites throughout the watershed and studying the changing conditions in the ecosystem.  Start planning your trip today.  If you would like to discuss any questions or discover some of the details for your class, give Demis Foster a call today at 206-937-5640 or dfoster@yni.org.

Take a Teacher Workshop

Teachers investigate insect casings Feb. 22-24: A Family Retreat
Join Olympic Park Institute for 3 days of workshop sessions that will help you apply inquiry-based field science in your classroom and your school’s local environment.   Families are welcome to join you on campus during this retreat. (download flyer or learn more and register today)

Mar. 17-18:  Field Science in the Elwha River Valley
If you want a more intensive 2-day workshop, join us this March.  Similar to our retreat above, we will focus on inquiry-based field science while exploring condtions along the Elwha River.  Our 2 days will allow us to investigate ecological connections above, between and below the two dams to be removed. Create a Custom Field Seminar

Teachers sampling water chemistryOlympic Park Institute is a great hub for fun, fascinating weekend adventures and workshops for adults, families and youth.  Use OPI's historic cabins on the shore of Lake Crescent and in the heart of Olympic National Park to start create a retreat or seminar for your university or organization.  Our staff can work with you to create the right custom experience.
